Early Saturday session has Smith on top again

Bradley Smith maintained his good pace from Friday in the first Saturday practice at Misano.

Day two at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini started with Briton Bradley Smith outpacing his 125cc rivals again in FP2 to stay at the top of the timesheets.

The Bancaja Aspar rider recorded his best time, 1’44.130, right at the end to keep his confidence on a high after his Friday success and his podium at Indianapolis last Sunday.

Around a tenth of a second behind the Englishman on this occasion was Indianapolis racewinner Pol Espargaró (Derbi Racing Team) in second place, with Smith’s team-mate Julián Simón lapping third fastest courtesy of a lap fractionally slower than Espargaró’s.

Two other riders who have won races this year, Andrea Iannone (Ongetta Team I.S.P.A.) and Nico Terol (Jack & Jones Team) were close behind in fourth and fifth respectively.

A top ten group of riders who all lapped within a second of Smith’s pace also featured Sandro Cortese, Efrén Vázquez, Simone Corsi, Sergio Gadea and Stefan Bradl.
