Campinoti expecting more good form for Pramac

Pramac Racing boss Paolo Campinoti is pleased by what his Ducati satellite outfit has achieved thus far this year, but is hoping for more good results as the season concludes.

For the Pramac Racing team the choice of two MotoGP rookies in their 2009 rider line-up was a brave gamble and one that has produced mixed results thus far.

The Ducati satellite team gave Mika Kallio and Niccolò Canepa their premier class big breaks this year and though Kallio has not had a brilliant campaign he has certainly outshone his Italian team-mate, with some good top ten results which earned him a temporary ride with the Ducati Marlboro team during Casey Stoner’s recent sick leave.

Pointing out the Finn’s good efforts Pramac Racing team manager Paolo Campinoti noted his contribution to the team’s endeavours when asked by recently to analyse the 2009 championship so far from his perspective. “The biggest satisfaction of the season was to see Kallio evolve so quickly as a rider over the course of the year,” Campinoti stated. “The highlight was in Assen, when he was able to follow some top guys, having a wonderful race, but unfortunately he crashed on the last corner. He could have got a great result but at least he proved his potential and gave us a thrilling race.”

On the overall performance of the team, which was boosted recently by the sound efforts of Kallio’s temporary substitute Aleix Espargaró, who was 13th and 11th at Indianapolis and Misano in his first ever MotoGP races, Campinoti commented, “We are quite happy with the development the team has had during the season.”

“We had some problems at the beginning, mainly because our two riders were new to MotoGP, so we had to wait for them to learn the bike. They improved a lot and we can now look forward to the rest of the season.”

Ending his summary on a positive note as he looked ahead to the final four rounds of the year Campinoti remarked, “I think we will continue to improve and our riders should be able to spring a nice surprise before the season ends.”
