Espargaró sets warm up pace in 125cc

Pol Espargaró was the top performer in the 125cc warm up in Malaysia on Sunday morning.

In cooler temperatures than in Saturday’s qualifying practice, Pol Espargaró set the fastest time in warm up as the session was ended early following Takaaki Nakagami’s crash.

With a ground temperature of 38°C – almost 20°C less than in qualifying – the Derbi Racing Team rider’s best lap of 2’14.814 was the standard which put him ahead of pole position holder Marc Márquez (Red Bull KTM), with Julián Simón (Bancaja Aspar) and Sergio Gadea (Bancaja Aspar) following in third and fourth respectively.

The top five was completed by Efrén Vázquez (Derbi Racing Team), with Simone Corsi (Fontana Racing), Jonas Folger (Ongetta Team I.S.P.A.), Danny Webb (Degraaf Grand Prix), Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar) and Sandro Cortese (Ajo Interwetten) also inside the top ten times.

Ongetta Team I.S.P.A. rider Nakagami’s spill with two minutes of the session remaining brought a premature end to the warm up.
