Former World Champion Roberto Locatelli had a successful operation on his right hand on Wednesday and will be ready to ride at Valencia.
Following his crash on lap five of Sunday’s 250cc race at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix Roberto Locatelli had an operation on Wednesday in San Marino to rectify a scaphoid fracture in his right hand.
The surgery was undertaken successfully by the surgeon who operated on a similar injury to Marco Simoncelli earlier this year, Dr. Oliviero Soragni, in the presence of Clinica Mobile’s Dr. Claudio Costa.
Metis Gilera rider Locatelli, who was the 125cc World Champion in 2000, will now undertake physiotherapy on his hand over the forthcoming days and expects to compete at the season-concluding Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana over the 6th-8th November weekend.
