Simón states intentions ahead of 125cc race

Julián Simón was again the top performer in the 125cc warm up in Portugal.

Bancaja Aspar’s Julián Simón has a 100% record in every session so far this weekend at Estoril and he will try to clinch the 125cc World title from pole this afternoon at the Portuguese venue having warmed up quicker than any of his rivals.

To win the championship Simón needs Nico Terol (Jack & Jones Team) and his Aspar team-mate Bradley Smith to slip up, but they were not too far behind him in the early Sunday session. Simón’s best time of 1’45.963 put him half a second ahead of Terol, with Simone Corsi (Fontana Racing) third and Smith fourth.

The top five was completed by Joan Olivé (Derbi Racing Team), ahead of Marc Márquez (Red Bull KTM), Danny Webb (Degraaf Grand Prix), Sandro Cortese (Ajo Interwetten), Stefan Bradl (Viessmann Kiefer Racing) and Esteve Rabat (Blusens Aprilia) in the top ten.
