Saturday, 2 May 2009

Spaniard quickest in second free practice for Gran Premio bwin.com de España.

Just one second separated the 125cc category’s ‘usual suspects’ in the second free practice session for the Gran Premio bwin.com de España, with Julián Simón assuming control of the preparations at his home track.

The Bancaja Aspar rider recorded a 1’47.203 lap in the morning session, whilst teammate Smith was unable to improve upon his Friday time –although his 1’47.524 lap from Saturday showed that nothing had changed overnight as he aims to push Simón this weekend.

Series leader and winner of the past two rounds, Andrea Iannone was also within a second of pacesetter Simón onboard the Ongetta Team I.S.P.A Aprilia.

The German duo of Sandro Cortese and Stefan Bradl completed the top five with the only other times under 1’48, whilst Sergio Gadea, Scott Redding and Simone Corsi were in turn close behind them.
