Gadea takes up the 125cc pace in practice
Sergio Gadea took over from Bancaja Aspar team-mate Julían Simón as the fastest rider in 125cc practice, recording the best lap in Saturday’s session.
Sergio Gadea’s hot lap of 1’41.458 placed him at the top of the timesheet in the second 125cc practice session at Valencia, ahead of team-mate Julián Simón – Friday’s fastest rider – and Nico Terol.
Of the five quickest riders from Friday’s session, Gadea, Simón, Terol and Pol Espargaró were all again inside the top five, with Andrea Iannone replacing Marcel Schrotter.
Gadea set his time on his 15th lap of 18, and was 0.274s quicker than Simón, who in turn led Jack & Jones rider Terol by a margin of 0.111s.
Espargaró was hot on his fellow Spaniard’s trail, recording a best time just 0.016s slower, whilst Ongetta Team I.S.P.A. man Iannone came in fifth in the rankings.
Schrotter, who impressed greatly in Friday’s session when he lapped third fastest, again appeared to be on course for a good time but after setting the pace early on, he crashed just before the midway point and ended up 15th on the timesheet. There was also a crash for Quentin Jacquet (Matteoni Racing) late in the session.
