Terol in control in cool 125cc warmup
Sixth-place grid starter quickest in 125cc session.
Home rider Nico Terol was fastest in the early morning 125cc warmup, which took place under cooler conditions than the scorching Saturday afternoon qualifying session. Thin cloud covered the Circuit de Catalunya for the last-minute run, but will come as a welcome relief for the riders as it brings a freshness to proceedings. The Jack&Jones rider recorded a best lap of 1’51.992, a tenth of a second faster than Andrea Iannone in second place.
Poleman Julián Simón was close behind in third place, with Aspar teammate Bradley Smith also showing that he is fired up for the race.
The session was not the best one for Blusens Aprilia, who had two late problems for their riders. British star Scott Redding had a mysterious mechanical problem when changing gears in the final minute of the session, leaving him with some uncertainty before taking his place on the grid, whilst Esteve Rabat crashed after posting the fifth fastest time of the morning.
