Aspar putting final touches to 125cc set-up for 2010

The highly successful Bancaja Aspar outfit looks set to comprise another competitive rider line-up next year, with team boss Jorge Martínez `Aspar´ having already signed Nico Terol and looking to renew Bradley Smith’s contract for 2010.

The Aspar 125cc team were World Champions this year courtesy of Julián Simón and with Smith as the runner-up in the category, Martínez is striving for more success next season.

At last weekend’s Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix Martínez confirmed the recruitment of talented Spanish rider Terol and reached an advanced stage in negotiations with Smith, who he has high hopes of re-signing before the end of the current campaign. Smith and Terol have been the two best performing riders in the 125cc category in 2009 after Simón.

“We are getting close to finalising things with Bradley Smith and we have confirmed with Nico Terol,” Martínez stated. “So I hope to continue with the same high level of competitiveness with our 125cc team and fight for the title again.”

Details of the 125cc Bancaja Aspar project for 2010 should be announced at the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana.
