De Puniet looking for solutions to cornering problem

Friday, 6 February 2009

LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet continued to put miles on the clock of his satellite RC212V on Friday, but ended the day well down the timesheet.

Focusing his work mainly on suspension settings and tyres Randy de Puniet completed 48 laps of Sepang on Friday with a best time of 2’04.507, to leave him 17th overall.

But the Frenchman admitted he is currently lacking confidence aboard his Bridgestone-shod Honda bike as he adapts to Japanese rubber on the 2009 spec HRC machine. He commented, “It’s very difficult for me to ride in these conditions. We tried many things to adjust the setting but I still struggle on corner entries. I cannot take on corners as I normally do. If I push a bit more I could easily crash and this is very frustrating.”

“Meanwhile the engine performance is getting better and this makes me more confident for the future. I know that my team is working hard to find a solution. The season is very long and this is just the first test.”
