De Puniet to battle against lingering injury at Indy

LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet is not quite back to 100% fitness following a summer ankle injury, but he intends to give it his best shot at Indianapolis just as he did at Brno.

Having secured a solid 10th place finish in the Czech Republic last time out Frenchman Randy de Puniet appeared to be on the mend after breaking his left ankle in a motocross accident the weekend after his superb Donington Park podium, but the injury has still not healed completely.

Despite undertaking an intensive rehabilitation programme, which has improved the ankle, De Puniet concedes that it will still not be at full strength this weekend.

He stated, “Brno was a very positive race for me and the team, despite the pain in my ankle. Now we hold seventh place in the standings and we aim to keep it until the end of the season. Of course it won’t be easy, as I am still recovering from the injury and the Indy race track has many left-hand corners. I won’t be at 100%, but the ankle is improving day by day.”
