Folger positive ahead of home Grand Prix
Jonas Folger’s positive trajectory in the 2009 World Championship sees him arrive at Sachsenring hoping for a strong result in front of the home fans.
German youngster Jonas Folger has made plenty of headlines so far this season en route to his home event - the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland - with some very good results in his first full season in the championship, including his first podium at Le Mans.
Folger competed in six GPs last year representing the Red Bull MotoGP Academy and having been signed up by the newly formed Ongetta I.S.P.A. team over the winter he is taking a fast track to the top, learning quickly from his front running colleague Andrea Iannone and gaining experience at every round.
Speaking to motogp.com ahead of his biggest weekend of the year, Folger commented, “It has been a very nice year for me so far. The team has been helping me a lot, our communication is good and I really like the Aprilia bike. I feel good at every track. I’m given Iannone’s data from last year and we have a similar style so that helps me a lot and I can start to do quick lap times straight away.”
On his preparations for his home race he explained, “I’ve been busy doing supermoto and motocross training. I also go cycling and running, training for Sachsenring. It is a nice track and I was here two weeks ago in the German championship. I did a good lap time with a 2004 Aprilia, so I hope to be even faster on my bike and to get into the top ten.”
