Lüthi excited at arrival of Moriwaki bike
New 600cc 4-stroke prototype is delivered to the Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 Team workshop in Germany.
With anticipation building ahead of the inaugural Moto2 season, the Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 Team’s preparations for the new campaign took another step with the arrival of the prototype that Thomas Lüthi will ride in 2010.
The German-based team will now take the bike to Ljubljana in Slovenia to fit an Akrapovic exhaust, as well as visiting Becker Carbon and Gilles Tooling in Germany for the fitting of further parts to ready the bike for testing.
“It is a beautiful motorcycle,” said Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 Team Manager, Terrell Thien, after the machine’s arrival from Japan. “The whole finish of the bike is impressive.”
Swiss rider Lüthi was also very enthusiastic about the prototype. He said: “I can’t wait to test the machine for the first time. When it arrived at the workshop in Germany my mechanics called me and started the bike, so I could hear the engine. It was like music to my ears! As soon as we have all the parts together I will travel to Solingen and try it out.”
The team plan to take the bike for a private test at the beginning of February at an as-yet undecided location in Spain and then examine the aerodynamics of the machine in a wind tunnel, before the first official Moto2 test at Valencia at the start of March.
