Márquez starts work with Ajo Motorsport
Spanish rider begins his preparations for the 2010 season with a private test at Jerez, and his new team are targeting a title challenge.
Marc Márquez, who has signed a contract for the 2010 125cc World Championship with Finnish team Ajo Motorsport, got his project underway on Thursday with the first of three days of testing at the Jerez circuit.
The Spaniard will use the test to work alongside his new team on the RSA factory bike, as he gets used to the Derbi machine ahead of the new year.
“We are all extremely happy to get this chance to work with Marc, who is one of the most talented and promising riders in the series at the moment,†said team owner Aki Ajo. “I think many teams would jump at a chance like this, but we also recognize the work we must do to provide Marc with the best possible chances of fighting for the title next season. This three-day test is the first one for us together, so we should be on a good run towards the 2010 Championship fight.â€
Márquez stated, “I am very excited about the new project with the Ajo Motorsport team, and I’m really looking forward to riding the new RSA bike. I want to start working with the staff and the new bike as soon as possible, so I will be ready for the first race.â€
Márquez finished last season eighth in the 125cc standings, taking a podium finish at Jerez in the third race of the campaign.
