Melandri disappointed despite good result
Marco Melandri’s consistently impressive 2009 campaign continued at the British Grand Prix, but such are the standards he is setting himself he was unhappy with seventh place.
Talented Italian star Marco Melandri kept up his excellent work at Donington Park over the weekend with a solid result in seventh place at the British Grand Prix, but the former resident of England was not satisfied with coming home in seventh place.
Given the lack of development on his Kawasaki machine during the course of the season Melandri has done very well to place himself seventh overall in the general classification after ten rounds - but he felt he could have achieved more in the UK during the wet-dry 30 lap contest.
The Hayate Racing competitor told motogp.com after the race, “I’m not very happy because the first part normally would have been good for me but my bike was not working in a good way, and I didn’t have a very good feeling. The rear was pushing the front a lot, in the downhill it was very slow. I am so disappointed because we should have really used these weather conditions well and it was not such a good race for me.”
Melandri will aim to keep up his high standards at the next round in Brno, following a short summer break, when MotoGP returns to action at the Cardion AB Czech Republic Grand Prix, from 14th-16th August.
