Valencia hosts Moto2 teams
The Ricardo Tormo Circuit hosts a two-day test starting on Wednesday, with a selection of Moto2 teams using the opportunity to take out their developing prototypes.
Preparations for the debut season of the Moto2 category in 2010 continue in Valencia on Wednesday, with a number of the teams competing in the intermediate class sending their machines out for further testing.
Amongst those who will be present are Axel Pons and Sergio Gadea, who will be building on what the Pons Kalex team established in November’s test. The Spanish outfit have been developing their bike in Germany over the past few weeks, and are aiming to be back on track in Almeria next week as they seek a quick follow-up to their findings in Valencia this time out.
The chassis that Hervé Poncharal’s Tech 3 Moto2 squad debuted in France last week in a private test will also be on track, with one half of the team’s rider line-up for 2010, Raffaele de Rosa, experiencing his first ride on the machine.
Italtrans STR’s Roberto Rolfo will be riding the Suter Racing prototype to be used next season. The 29 year-old Italian, who has experience in both the 250cc and MotoGP classes, and Robertino Pietri will race for the squad in 2010.
Mapfre Aspar’s Mike di Meglio and Julián Simón will again use a BQR machine on Wednesday. The pair shared a loaned bike from BQR in Valencia in early November to get their first tastes of action aboard the 600cc machine, and there is a possibility the Aspar team may use the Pons Kalex prototype on Thursday.
