MotoGP field show their colours to open Official Test
New boys Kallio and Canepa show off Pramac bikes, Suzuki back in blue and Grupo Francisco Hernando get colourful as 2009 liveries are presented in pit lane.
Ahead of the first 800cc action of the weekend at the Circuito de Jerez, several MotoGP competitors opened up their garages on Saturday morning to unveil their 2009 liveries. Following the lead of Monster Yamaha Tech3, who revealed their new black, yellow and white colour scheme the previous day, several more MotoGP squads rolled up the doors to show their bikes for the coming season.
Rizla Suzuki were the first team of the morning to make their presentation, going back to blue after reconfirming Rizla’s title sponsorhip of their MotoGP project. The Hayate outfit stuck with a black theme for Marco Melandri’s Ninja ZX-RR, whilst Grupo Francisco Hernando assured that Sete Gibernau will stand out on track by adding blue, white, green and red to his Ducati Desmosedici GP9.
Like Suzuki, Pramac Racing showed off a similar look to last season, though of course it was MotoGP Rookies Mika Kallio and Niccolò Canepa presenting the team's own new satellite Ducati machines.
The remaining official unveilings will be made on Sunday morning, although the bikes will be available to view on the 2.748 mile long catwalk of the Jerez track on Saturday as the riders prepare for the 2009 season.
Photos of the new bike liveries can be found in motogp.com’s photo section.
