Poncharal excited about Moto2 project

Having been a World Championship team manager for more than 20 years Herve Poncharal has a wealth of experience in organising successful Grand Prix projects and will therefore be expected to have a competitive outfit in the new Moto2 class next season.

The Frenchman has confirmed his plans to run two bikes in the new 600cc 4-stroke category, with current 250cc competitor Jules Cluzel – a compatriot of Poncharal – expected to join the team.

“We will have two riders in Moto2,” Poncharal told motogp.com at Misano. “We are very excited about the Moto2 project as this is something that we have been pushing in order to see from 2010 and I’m quite sure that this class is going to be fantastic.”

He continued, “We are building our own chassis and although the sponsors are not clear at the moment we have taken the decision to proceed with the project. It is not completely finalised but I would say it is 95% done.”

On his high hopes of signing Cluzel, Poncharal added, “He is a young French rider who is doing well on a private bike at the moment. I’m very excited about this and if it could be another Olivier Jacque story it would be perfect!”
