Ranseder to make CBC Corse debut after Haojue dissolution
Italian 125cc World Championship team step in to save Austrian’s 2009 campaign.
Austrian rider Michael Ranseder will resume his 2009 season with the CBC Corse team at Sachsenring later this month, after the apparent withdrawal of the Haojue team from the World Championship.
Ranseder and the Chinese outfit had both been hopeful of a successful debut campaign together, but a series of mechanical and logistical problems meant that the 23 year-old was able to get off the line at just one race with the purple and orange bike. Following the decision of Haojue management to sit out the most recent three rounds of the 125cc series and the subsequent cancelation of contracts for Ranseder and Matthew Hoyle, the Austrian entered into negotiations with CBC Corse.
“I’m incredibly relieved and over the moon at the same time,” said Ranseder after confirming the deal, which will see him riding an Aprilia RSW alongside Italians Luca Vitali and Luca Marconi.
“In the last couple of weeks my nerves were quite strained, as my goal was always to stay in Grand Prix racing. But to find a ride mid-season wasn’t easy at all. So I would like to say thanks to the Cecchini brothers for their trust in me. I can’t wait to be racing again amongst those guys in 125cc as I’m really motivated after this unintentional break.”
Ranseder’s deal with CBC Corse currently runs until the end of the 2009 campaign.
