Redding ankle healing quickly
Scott Redding rode through the pain barrier on Sunday in the Czech Republic with a bruised ankle, but he is healing quickly and wants to fight for the podium in Indianapolis.
British rider Scott Redding will be giving it ‘full gas’ again at the next round of the World Championship in Indianapolis in ten days’ time, with his right ankle healing up without issues on his return to the UK.
Blusens Aprilia rider Redding pushed bravely to recover from an early mishap in Sunday’s Brno race, crossing the line 15th to deny his friend and compatriot Danny Webb a point. The Gloucestershire youngster commented, “In the race I think I could have got a top ten finish but I got knocked off the track on the second lap and just lost it all. Then with the adrenaline and my ankle I was getting tired quickly, but that is racing.”
Commenting on the blow he took to his right ankle in practice on Saturday and the process of returning to training in England, Redding added, “It’s not too bad actually, I got it x-rayed and they said its fine, so I have just been resting it and supporting it. I have to concentrate on upper body training in the gym this week. I don’t really go swimming but I can cycle on it. I can’t go too hard, but I have been focusing on that.”
Looking ahead to Indianapolis, where he was fourth in last year’s maiden 125cc World Championship race at IMS, Redding stated, “I had a good race there last year and to try and get on the podium would be good because it is really nice track. Of course America is a great place for us to race and is a superb place to visit.”
Redding and his management are still discussions with a number of teams with regard to a possible move into the new Moto2 class next year. Despite still being just 16 years-old the English rider is hoping to be fast-tracked onto the 600cc machinery due to his physical stature, as one of the taller riders in the 125cc category.
