Repsol Honda testing 2010 machine
Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso are both testing the evolving 2010 version of their Honda RC212V prototypes at Valencia.
With the post-season Valencia test now well underway, the Repsol Honda team has wasted no time in rolling out the 2010 version of their RC212V prototype with both Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso enjoying their first outings on the evolving machines.
For Pedrosa, an introduction to Ohlins suspension has also been made as the Spaniard tests the Swedish manufacturer’s shock absorbers.
“We are testing with the new 2010 bike and are also using Ohlins suspension,” explained Pedrosa. “The key thing is to begin getting used to the new suspension because the feelings are quite different and we need some time to find the set-up for the new chassis.”
Pedrosa continued, “The feeling from the chassis is quite similar - it’s the suspension that really feels different, and I think this is normal when you make a change like this. The initial feeling is positive and we’ll continue to work (on it).”
Also being tested on the Honda machine by both riders are new Bridgestone tyres, whilst Dovizioso has shifted the position of his engine to improve stability.
“It’s very early days of course, but the first impression is positive and the feeling is that we are moving in a good direction,” said the Italian. “The weight distribution is different in order to improve the stability of the machine under braking and to better suit the Bridgestone tyres. We will continue evaluating the new machine.”
