Rossi ready to step up work for 2010
With his ninth world title already in the bag, Valentino Rossi is looking forward to continuing work on the 2010 Fiat Yamaha project in Valencia.
Recently ‘re-crowned’ World Champion Valentino Rossi goes into the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana under no pressure, having wrapped up the premier class title in Malaysia, but the ultra-focused Italian wants another good result this weekend before working with his new 2010 prototype Yamaha M1 in next week’s Valencia test.
This year’s factory Yamaha package has consistently been the most competitive on the grid, but Rossi knows that he will need to continue working hard on his 800cc machine over the winter to stay ahead of his competitors – with the next steps commencing on Monday.
Previewing the final weekend of racing in what has been another fantastic campaign for the man from Tavullia, he stated, “This hasn’t been a great track for me in the past and I’ve had some bad times there, but at the moment we’re in great shape and our bike is working well everywhere we go, so I hope it will be the same at Valencia. It’s a great place to finish and the atmosphere is amazing, so we will just do our best and hope for another good race to round off a great season.”
Rossi added, “On Monday we will start working on the new M1 and I’m very excited to try it! I am very happy to be going to the final race with the championship won and the pressure off, now we can just enjoy ourselves. It’s been a fantastic year and now we just have one more weekend before we start work for 2010.”
