Talmacsi excited ahead of biggest race of the year
Hungarian rider Gabor Talmacsi always enjoys huge support at Brno and this weekend he will do so as a MotoGP rider for the first time.
Gabor Talmacsi’s 2009 adventure continues this weekend at the Cardion AB Czech Republic Grand Prix as he rides at the Brno circuit for the first time as a premier class competitor.
The former 125cc World Champion always attracts a huge number of Hungarian fans to the historic Czech circuit and this year they will be supporting him as passionately as ever, as he tests himself against the likes of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo on 800cc machinery.
The Scot Racing rider, who started the year in the 250cc class having only moved up from 125cc over the winter, only to subsequently make a surprise switch to MotoGP, previewed this weekend’s action saying, “Every year at Brno, my fans gather in the C sector and I can see them easily, even during the race. It is fabulous seeing the Hungarian national flag and the banners flying in the air. This is always a special weekend for me, with added pressure, but also special joy.”
On the specifics of the Czech venue for the round eleven action he added, “The layout suits my riding style. I love the large width of the track, where you can choose between several different lines. It is flowing, and not stop-and-go. I love it, in spite of the fact that it never was too good to me in the last few laps of races. More than once I lost a great result just in the final stages.”
Stating his objective for the race, Talmacsi also commented, “This year, on a MotoGP bike, a totally different approach will be needed. I would love to finish in the top ten because that would mean seven competitors were behind me and would be great.”
