Vázquez on recovery trail with Estoril as his goal

Efrén Vázquez is fighting back from injury having damaged his right ankle in testing a fortnight ago.

The Spaniard underwent medical tests on Monday at a clinic in San Sebastián which showed that the ankle is healing well and the Derbi rider has now started an intense rehab programme to get him back on track as soon as possible, with the mid-March 250cc/125cc test at Estoril being his comeback goal.

“Obviously this is a big challenge and coming back fit and strong as quickly as possible will have a big impact on my results this season,” commented Vázquez, who is having physiotherapy and heat therapy treatment to aid his recovery.

Vázquez suffered ankle fractures and Achilles tendon damage when he crashed and got his right leg caught in his Derbi 125cc machine at the Ricardo Tormo circuit during a smaller class test earlier this month.
