Beattie predicts Stoner victory

Saturday, 17 October 2009

Former MotoGP World Championship rider Daryl Beattie gives motogp.com his prediction for Phillip Island.

Daryl Beattie, the 500cc World Championship 1995 runner-up, has been keeping a close eye on fellow Australian Casey Stoner at the Iveco Australian Grand Prix and believes the Ducati Marlboro man will win for the third consecutive year at the circuit after securing pole position.

You can make your round 15 predictions in the Fantasy MotoGP 2009 game, with Beattie predicting a Stoner victory, followed closely by Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa on the podium.

“I’d love to see Casey go for a hat-trick and finish here, so I think Stoner first, Valentino close second and I think Jorge Lorenzo has been struggling a little bit here, so I think Pedrosa third,” said Beattie.

“Casey’s very good at getting away at the beginning and at Phillip Island in the first and second lap, unless you can get a two or three-second gap, for the rest of the race you won’t get away. So he needs to do it in the first couple of laps, and I think that’s what he’s going to try and do.”
