Bautista quickest in 250cc warmup outing

Looking for a second win of 2009 this afternoon in front of the passionate home fans at the Circuit de Catalunya, as he attempts to strengthen his position at the head of the standings, Álvaro Bautista was the fastest man in the 250cc warm-up.

Mapfre Aspar man Bautista took over at the head of the timesheet in the final minutes, with a 1’46.838 lap – a time marginally better than his own qualifying effort which put him second on the grid yesterday.

Poleman Héctor Barberá (Pepe World Team) was second quickest in the session, leading the way until Bautista’s late surge.

Showing his own podium credentials, World Champion Marco Simoncelli was third fastest, just as he was in qualifying, whilst his team-mate Roberto Locatelli and Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama (Scot Racing Team) also featured at the business end of the timesheet.
