Second 250cc session gives opportunity for wet work

Heavy rain at the Sachsenring on Saturday morning could have made the second 250cc Free Practice session a washout, but the expectation of a wet race and qualifying looming meant that the riders decided to take their chances and put in laps in Germany.

The times recorded were largely irrelevant, and obviously far down from the dry times recorded during Friday’s first runout. Karel Abraham’s 1’35.648 lap was the best that anyone could do as the rainfall sprayed up and conditions turned slippery.

Cardion AB rider Abraham was one of the most consistent men on track during the run, only making brief visits back to his garage. The experience could stand him in good stead for qualifying should more rain come down.

Amongst the big guns, Mattia Pasini and Thomas Luthi both had falls during the hour of practice for the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
