Simón fastest in 125cc warm up

The strong Bancaja Aspar trio of Julián Simón, Sergio Gadea and Bradley Smith topped the 125cc Sunday morning Mugello warm up session, in that order, with Simón leading the way courtesy of a 1’59.457 time.

His compatriot Gadea was just 0.073 behind him, with Englishman Smith, who starts from pole in the 11am 125cc contest, a 0.137s margin behind his pace-setting colleague – in another session which highlighted the possibility of an Aspar podium clean sweep in Italy.

Additional Spanish riders Pol Espargaró (Derbi Racing Team) and Nico Terol (Jack & Jones Team) also showed good pace as they featured in the top five.

Andrea Iannone (Ongetta Team I.S.P.A.), Randy Krummenacher (Degraaf Grand Prix), Sandro Cortese (Ajo Interwetten), Scott Redding (Blusens Aprilia) and Efrén Vázquez (Derbi Racing Team) were also in the top ten.
