The 125cc World Champion is training hard ahead of his switch to the new Moto2 category, which debuts in 2010.

Mapfre Aspar Team rider Julián Simón is putting in plenty of hours of physical training as he gets ready to make a challenge for the inaugural Moto2 World Championship title in 2010.

It was announced last week that the Aspar Moto2 structure would use Italian manufacturer RSV as their chassis supplier for the season, and 2009 125cc World Champion Simón has not wasted any time in preparing for the new class.

"At the moment I'm training every day; motocross, cycling, running, and am also doing a lot of gym work because I need more power for this type of bike. It's heavier than in 125cc and 250cc, and I'm spending all my time training to make sure I'm 100% physically", he explained.

"ll use the official RSV, which I'm happy about because I tried five different bikes", continued Simón. "After experiences with those we decided on the RSV because they have a lot of technical experience with the 600cc 4-stroke engine, and I think it's possible to have a very good year with this machine."

The Mapfre Aspar Team plan to conduct a two-day test in Valencia this week to give Simón and team-mate Mike di Meglio further time aboard the RSV.
