Valencia to host the first official Moto2 and 125cc test of the year

The Ricardo Tormo Circuit will be the venue for the first official test of the new intermediate category, where Moto2 teams will have the official Honda engines.

Valencia will host the first official Moto2/125cc test of the year from Monday to Wednesday (March 1-3), as the teams and riders that will contest the World Championship this year meet at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

A total of 68 riders will be in attendance to continue their preparations for the new season, which starts on April 11th at the Losail Internatonal Circuit in Qatar.

Great interest will be paid to the 41 riders of the new Moto2 class, who will be able to ride with the official Honda engines to be used this season for the first time. The test will provide the first chance to really assess the levels of each individual rider, with the engine offering equality across the category.

Amongst those present will be former MotoGP riders Toni Elías, Alex de Angelis, Niccolò Canepa, Gabor Talmacsi and Yuki Takahashi who are all competing in 2010. British rider Scott Redding on the Suter of the Marc VDS Racing Team will also be at Valencia, along with 125cc World Champion Julián Simón of the Mapfre Aspar Team.

Up to 27 riders from the 125cc class will also ride, including Bancaja Aspar rider and 2010 title hopeful Bradley Smith. Alongside him will be team-mate Nico Terol, and title rivals Marc Márquez, Pol Espargaró, Efrén Vázquez and Esteve Rabat, all of whom rode at Montmeló. Danny Webb will also get his first ride of the RSA of the Andalucia Cajasol team.
