The lights are on for second night of the Test!

The lights are on for second night of the Test!

The final session of the Official Test at the Losail International Circuit is underway and Casey Stoner has gone fastest inside the opening 60 minutes.

The MotoGP riders have entered the final evening of pre-season Testing at the Losail International Circuit, and at 7pm local time Ducati Marlboro rider Casey Stoner was the quickest around the track. The Australian is continuing to work on the balance of his Desmosedici GP10, and lapped at 1’56.106 as he started warming up in the final session.

Yesterday’s fastest Valentino Rossi was hot on the heels of Stoner and the Italian is today testing a front tyre spec from Bridgestone, working on some chassis parts and continuing on electronics. He will attempt to complete a race simulation later today, with team-mate Jorge Lorenzo focusing on finding his base setting for the race in three weeks as he battles with his hand injury.

Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa of the Repsol Honda team are both aiming for steep improvements on day two and each had completed 13 laps inside the opening hour, whilst Loris Capirossi of the Rizla Suzuki team will ride back to back with two different chassis. The veteran and Rookie team-mate Álvaro Bautista will be testing a new swingarm on the GSV-R, in order to improve grip.

Elsewhere, yesterday’s high fliers Ben Spies and Colin Edwards of the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team have a busy work schedule for the second day. Spies – third fastest on day one – will confirm the settings from yesterday with a particular focus on tyres, and will ride a race simulation in the later part of the session. Edwards will spend the first half of today continuing to test Yamaha factory parts – which include a swingarm – with the latter part concentrated on finalising the base set-up for the circuit.

Rookie Hiroshi Aoyama will work on more rear grip and feeling from the front with his Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team, whilst San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Melandri’s RC212V will have work on its suspension and chassis as the team are slightly concerned by the progress being made in this final Test.

All riders were out on track by 7pm local time, and will be bringing you regular updates throughout the final day of the events at the circuit. Coming up will be a look at the lighting system at the Losail circuit, an interview with Jorge Lorenzo and his Fiat Yamaha crew chief Ramon Forcada, and the designs of the 2010 helmets will also be put under the spotlight.
