De Puniet hopes intense training will maintain form

After a fine start to the season the LCR Honda rider has been training hard ahead of round two, the Gran Premio bwin de España.

Randy de Puniet has upped his training programme in preparation for Jerez this weekend, as he looks to improve on his already impressive start to the 2010 MotoGP World Championship.

The LCR Honda rider had a strong opening round in Qatar where he qualified in fourth spot and finished the race in sixth, and having had an extra week to prepare for Jerez after the postponement of the Grand Prix of Japan he has increased his physical preparations.

As well as feeling fit De Puniet is also recalling his fourth-placed finish from last season’s race, and is aiming to once more be at the front and fighting for the top spots at Jerez this year.

“After the postponement of Motegi I have increased my training programme to be at 100% for the race at Jerez,” said De Puniet. “After the good result we achieved in Qatar our target remains the same: a top-ten finish. Last year’s GP at Jerez was one of the best moments of my season as I finished fourth. I aim to be in the front this year again.”

De Puniet is very content with the settings that have been reached on his RC212V machine, and will continue on the same ones which served him so well at Losail.

He continued: “The base set-up we have developed during winter testing was very helpful in the first round and I think it will be the same in Spain. We will start from the same set-up and, session by session, we will adjust the bike.”
