Márquez hopes to arrive at Le Mans in shape

After a week of complete rest the Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider had a further medical examination on Monday, and has started the rehabilitation of his injured shoulder.

Marc Márquez had a medical check-up on Monday at the USP Institut Universitari Dexeus de Barcelona, and has received the go-ahead to begin the rehabilitation of his injured right shoulder. The examination was conducted by Doctor Xavier Mir, who confirmed that the youngster’s recovery is on schedule.

Márquez suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder and an abrasion in a heavy fall in the 125cc race at the Gran Premio bwin de España on May 2nd, but is confident he will be able to contest the third round of the 2010 World Championship which takes place at Le Mans on May 23rd.

“Doctor Mir has told me that my shoulder is healing well and that I was lucky to have not injured myself more in the crash,” said Márquez. “Things are going according to plan with the shoulder, and now I can begin the rehabilitation of it. If all goes well I hope to be able to ride the bike at the end of next week, when we arrive in France, although it’s still not certain.”

The Monster Energy Grand Prix of France takes place from May 21st-23rd, with 125cc qualifying due to start at 12.40pm local time on Friday 21st.
