Espargaró maintains momentum on Saturday morning

The Spaniard was again quickest in practice as he topped the second session, ahead of Championship leader Nico Terol and Marc Márquez.

Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) continued to outline his strength at the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM weekend with the best time in FP2, laying down a best lap of 1’58.454 on his 18th and final turn of the session to take the top spot back off Nico Terol (Bancaja Aspar).

Championship leader Terol finished the practice just 0.064s behind as the duo repeated their close battle from the first practice, further heightening expectations for another fine race on Sunday. Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) completed the top three times as he timed in at only a hundredth off Terol.

The improvement of Bradley Smith’s Aprilia continued as he placed fourth in the session, just under four-tenths further back. Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo) experienced a fall at the end of the session but had already set the fifth best time, with Danny Webb (Andalucia Cajasol), Tomoyoshi Koyama (Racing Team Germany) and Johann Zarco (WTR San Marino Team) completing a provisional second row.

The top ten was completed by Randy Krummenacher (Stipa-Molenaar Racing) and Esteve Rabat (Blusens-STX). 125cc qualifying is due to start at 1pm local time.
