Rabat leads wet 125cc warm up

Rain and a sodden Sachsenring surface had to be negotiated by the 125cc riders in this morning’s warm up session, ahead of the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Esteve Rabat (Blusens-STX) set the muted pace in the 125cc warm up at Sachsenring on Sunday morning, going round in a best time of 1’40.768, as rain and a wet track surface with a temperature of 18ºC affected the 20-minute session.

German rider Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo) did not let the weather dampen his spirits as he placed second quickest, 0.791s behind, with Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar), Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) and Sturla Fagerhaug (AirAsia - Sepang International Circuit Team) completing the top five in a cautious session.

Home duo Jonas Folger (Team Ongetta) and Marcel Schrötter (Interwetten Honda 125) were sixth and seventh respectively, with pole holder Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) riding a careful session in which he had a slide off at turn three, a fall of no consequence. The Championship leader timed in 10th quickest, 2.315s off Rabat’s marker.
