WWE star Mark Henry gets to grips with MotoGP

The professional wrestler met Jorge Lorenzo, Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards at Montmeló ahead of the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya.

The worlds of MotoGP and WWE met in full force on Thursday at the Montmeló circuit as premier class riders Jorge Lorenzo, Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards met WWE star Mark Henry in the paddock.

The professional wrestler paid a visit to Barcelona on the eve of the seventh round of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship, and spent some time discussing both sports with the quartet whilst Hayden posed the idea of an arm wrestle.

“With the team around I felt pretty safe! He’s a big strong guy and I’m glad I didn’t have to arm wrestle him. As a kid I wanted to be a professional wrestler!” said Hayden, who is going for his first podium of the season this Sunday having been close four times this campaign. “We’ll try for it. I’m not going to talk about it any more, just go out and do it now.”

Edwards was more confident when meeting Henry. “He’s not that big, I think I could take him!” joked the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider. “He’s a Texas boy like me and it’s good to meet these guys every now and then. I used to watch all these guys when I was younger!”

“We’re changing it up a little for the race and we will make use of what we have,” added Edwards. “It’s a track I like and have always enjoyed.”

Team-mate Spies was also pleased to meet Henry: “He’s a guy you definitely want on your side! I used to watch wrestling quite a bit back in Texas, but always stuck with motorcycles.”

“Top ten is the aim here in Catalunya. Last weekend was good and now we have to learn another new track and keep things realistic,” Spies dded about the race.
