Terol back on course and ready to fight

A win on his return to action at Brno after injury for the 125cc Bancaja Aspar rider put him back in the title race, and he is now targeting a victory in the next round at Indianapolis.

Nico Terol’s comeback from injury was completed in some style on Sunday when the Bancaja Aspar rider took victory at the Cardion ab Grand Prix Czech Republic. Having failed to score points in the two previous rounds due to his crash at Catalunya, Terol responded fantastically by taking the maximum in his first race back.

An intense recovery programme and sheer determination saw him to victory and he now sits 23 points behind Championship leader Marc Márquez with eight rounds remaining.

“We came here wanting to have a really good race at a circuit that I like a lot, and I wasn't going to settle for anything less than a victory,” said the 21 year-old. “That is why I pushed so hard right from the start on Friday. I hadn't taken points in the last few races, so I wanted to keep my title chances alive.”

"The recovery work that I undertook during my time off was very intense, so I really have to thank my physiotherapist, Jordi, for his work. It is partly down to him that I came back so quickly,” added Terol, who fractured two vertebra and bruised a lung in his fall in Barcelona at the start of July.

“We deserved this result and I have to thank the team for the great job that they did. From the beginning of the race I pushed hard in order to break away, because I wanted to have a more relaxed end to the race. My back was hurting a little by the end, but I am happy to have ended the race well. The next race is in Indianapolis, where I took my first win and where I hope to do the same this year."
