Hayden fully charged for home race

The Ducati Team rider is still in search of a first podium of the season and is aiming for a repeat of last season’s top-three finish at Indianapolis this weekend.

Nicky Hayden’s determination this season has been evident through the Ducati Team rider’s persistence in search of a first podium finish of 2010, and the American will have an added motivation this weekend at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Billed as Hayden’s home race the 29 year-old has enjoyed success at the circuit in the past two seasons, finishing second in the inaugural MotoGP race there in 2008 and securing another rostrum last year.

"I really cannot wait to get to Indy for the race. It's such a famous track with so much history and being so close to my home I got a big crew making the trip to support me and my brother,” said Hayden, whose younger sibling Roger Lee is riding as a Moto2 wild card entry.

Hayden also said that the bone he chipped in his left arm at Brno is improving, and he hopes it will not hinder his chances of pushing for a strong result.

“My broken wrist is better than last week in Brno, which I am very happy about, so we'll see on Friday just how much better,” he stated. “The weather looks good so I hope to come out strong from the gun on Friday and have a weekend worth remembering. Let's get it!"

Adding to his potential will be the option of a new front fork, tested at Brno last week, and Team Manager Vittoriano Guareschi is hopeful Hayden receives a reward for his hard work and progress in 2010.

“This is one of the most important races of the year for Nicky and definitely the one he looks forward to the most,” said the Italian. “He finished third last year and considering the big steps forward he has made this season, coming close to the podium on several occasions, we hope he can be celebrating a similar result."
