CEV Buckler returns to action at Albacete

CEV Buckler returns to action at Albacete

After the summer break the CEV Buckler returns this weekend as the fifth round takes place at the Albacete Circuit.

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira arrives at the circuit as leader of the 125GP category following his dominance of the two previous rounds at Jerez and Motorland. His advantage at the top of the standings is only 13 points over Maverick Viñales however, and the young Spaniard has taken his sole victory of the season to date at Albacete. This battle between the two will be an intriguing spectacle, but without forgetting of course a number of other riders capable of challenging for the win, amongst them Alex Rins, winner at Montmeló and third in the standings at just six points off Viñales.

The equality is even further emphasised in the Moto category, where the top five riders are separated by just 14 points. Interestingly leader Dani Rivas has not yet won a race this season but has been consistent in his points-scoring exploits. Kev Coghlan, Iván Moreno, Carmelo Morales and Jordi Torres all maintain strong hopes for the title, and Albacete will be a key venue in deciding who approaches the final two rounds of the season with their title prospects still intact.

Clear favourite in the Stock Extreme class is Javier Forés, winner of the four races to date and with a 40-point lead at the top of the standings over Javier del Amor. Forés could mathematically win the title if he takes victory at Albacete and Del Amor fails to get his Ducati on the podium.

The fourth race on the bill at Albacete is the Kawasaki Ninja Cup, which enters its final stages (this will be round four of five) with four riders separated by just nine points. Leading going into Albacete is Adrían Ménchén, but only by a single point ahead of Angel Molero, and five ahead of Alex Mariñelarena. Despite not scoring any points in the opening race Erik Robles maintains hopes of glory as he sits in fourth place.

The racing schedule for this Sunday is as follows:

10:45 Moto2
12:00 125GP
13:00 Kawasaki Ninja Cup
14:00 Stock Extreme

TVE plans to broadcast the 125GP race lives on La1, with extended highlights of the Moto2 race to follow afterwards.
