Espargaró leads second session in rain

The second and final practice of Friday at Aragón was a wholly wet affair for the 125cc class as Pol Espargaró managed to go fastest in the poor conditions. Nico Terol’s FP1 time stood firm as the day’s fastest lap.

Pol Espargaró was the quickest during a soaking wet second practice for the 125cc class at Aragón on Friday, as the rain continued to hinder the riders’ efforts. Having negotiated a first practice in the morning that was predominantly affected by wet weather, the afternoon session was marked by rain from start to finish.

Tuenti Racing rider Espargaró managed to negotiate the conditions in the fastest time with a lap of 2’13.224, with Championship leader and rival Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) and Jonas Folger (Ongetta Team) completing the top three and the only two riders within a second of him.

Terol, whose morning time remained the fastest of the day, was fourth in the second session, with team-mate Bradley Smith inside the top five. The Brit avoided a nasty high-side at the end of the session as he came out of the final corner. Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo), Danny Webb (Andalucia Cajasol) and Luis Salom (Stipa-Molenaar Racing) completed the FP2 top eight. There were crashes for Peter Sebestyen (Right Guard Racing) and Marco Ravaioli (Lambretta Reparto Corse) in the session, both of whom walked away from their falls.

Following Terol in the combined times for the day, all courtesy of their FP1 times, were Espargaró and Smith.
