Ioda Racing Moto3 project presented at Estoril

Giampiero Sacchi unveiled the TR 001 prototype in Portugal and gave details of the Italian project for the new category, due to be introduced in 2012.

The TR 001 prototype was unveiled by Giampiero Sacchi at Estoril on Thursday in a presentation of the new Italian bike, designed to run in the new Moto3 class in 2012.

Moto3 is due to replace the current 125cc class with a 250cc four-stroke category in 2012 and the Ioda Racing chassis, developed with an engine produced by TM Racing, will be further evolved during the 2011 season.

Part of the process will see the bike being run in the Italian National Championship in line with its 125cc regulations, courtesy of the Italian Motorcycle Federation.

“It’s a small factory and produces bikes especially for young riders. This is the first prototype and it’s been developed in line with the fundamental regulations of Moto3 – 250cc four-stroke,” explained Sacchi.

“We have to work hard to prepare this engine further. We have the winter to do a good job of further developing the bike, and we expect to have a bike which is competitive and not expensive,” he concluded.
