Caschi d’Oro awards bestowed on MotoGP stars

Caschi d’Oro awards bestowed on MotoGP stars

The 35th edition of the event held in Italy was attended by World Championship riders including Marco Simoncelli, Toni Elías, Andrea Iannone and Roberto Rolfo.

The annual Caschi d’Oro award ceremony took place in Bologna, Italy on Saturday as the stars of the MotoGP World Championship were recognised following another season of achievements.

As is the custom the World Champion in each category was rewarded although Moto2 title winner Toni Elías was the only one able to attend and receive his award in person. MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was absent due to a prior engagement whilst 2010 125cc Champion Marc Márquez was busy due to a test, with his manager Emilio Alzamora collecting his award on his behalf.

A guest and star of the show on many previous occasions Valentino Rossi was unable to attend but made a telephone address to those present, whilst Italians Andrea Iannone and Roberto Rolfo collected ‘Golden Helmets’ for their displays in the inaugural Moto2 season in which they were both race winners.

Premier class star Marco Simoncelli was also presented with an award for his excellent debut season in the elite category.
