Cardús secures QMMF Moto2 ride

The Spanish rider will continue in the intermediate category in 2011 with the QMMF Racing Team, alongside Qatari rider Mashel Al Naimi.

Ricky Cardús will start his first full campaign in the Moto2 class in 2011 with the QMMF Racing Team, lining up alongside Qatari rider Mashel Al Naimi.

Cardús, 22, put pen to paper on his deal with the Qatar Federation outfit last week in Monaco, and travelled to the Middle East emirate on Tuesday to meet his new team. Present at the signing of his contract at the Hotel de Paris in Montecarlo was team representative Mr Nasser Khalifa Al Atya and Cardús' representative Beatriz Poves Royo.

The Spaniard will be sponsored by Maquinza, who backed his debut in the Moto2 class in 2010 when he was called upon by the Stop and Go team as a replacement for Bernat Martínez from the Sachsenring round onwards. Cardús competed in nine Moto2 World Championship races in total in 2010, with a best finish of 20th at Misano.
