Terol on pace in wet warm up

Sunday, 15 August 2010

The Bancaja Aspar rider was fastest in the 20-minute session ahead of the Cardion ab Grand Prix Czech Republic.

On a wet track with a temperature of 22ºC Nico Terol underlined his intentions of going for a strong result at Brno on his return from injury, lapping fastest in the warm up session on Sunday morning. The Bancaja Aspar rider’s time of 2’19.687 left him 0.228s quicker than home rider Jakub Kornfeil (Racing Team Germany).

Another former Red Bull rookie completed the top three in the session as Sturla Fagerhaug (AirAsia - Sepang International Circuit Team) lapped at just over eight-tenths off Terol, with Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo) fourth.

Pole holder Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar) was fifth as he prepared himself to launch his bid for a first win of the season, with fellow Brit Danny Webb (Andalucia Cajasol) completing the top six. Front row starters Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) and Marc Márquez (Red Bull Ajo Motorsport) were ninth and 18th in the session respectively as the wet conditions complicated matters. There was a fall at the very end for Isaac Viñales (Lambretta Reparto Corse).

The 125cc race is scheduled to begin at 11am local time.
