An introduction to… Jonas Folger

Following on from yesterday’s opening instalment with Moto2 rider Vladimir Ivanov, ‘An introduction to…’ today focuses on Jonas Folger, the young German rider currently competing in his second season in the 125cc class with the Ongetta Team.

Making his way up through the Red Bull Rookies Cup where he served notice of his talent with some superb displays, Folger was welcomed into the World Championship team of Fiorenzo Caponera last season. Spending his first season as a learning one alongside Andrea Iannone, this year Folger is the leading rider in the set-up which has a further four riders in its squad.

“It was a great feeling and a great season for me and the team. We did a great job and I was very happy,” said Folger of his debut campaign. “The Academy was also great because I learned a lot there. I was there for three years and studied the tracks and developed my riding style, so it was a really big help for me to make the step to the World Championship.”

In the attached video interview Folger and Caponera discuss the former’s progress, amongst a range of topics. “A good result for me would be to improve a lot and be more consistent, and to stay inside the top eight. That would be a big step from last year,” added Folger.
