CEV Buckler 2010 maintains leading Championship status
The CEV Buckler 2010 commences at the Circuit de Catalunya on April 18th and will present many new features, maintaining its status as a National Championship which is referred to across the world.
The categories that will be contested in 2010 will be 125GP, Moto2, Stock Extreme and Kawasaki Ninja Cup, with each one displaying its own individuality.
The 125GP category provides a passage for those youngsters who wish to compete in the World Championship, with the high level of competition offering an education before the move up. Proof of this can be seen in the five debutants in this year's 125cc World Championship, who last year participated in the CEV Buckler; Spanish Champion Alberto Moncayo, German rider Marcel Schrötter, Norwegian talent Sturla Fagerhaug, Czech prospect Jakub Kornfeil and Malaysian promise Muhammad Zulfhami. All of these riders proved last year in Valencia they were sufficiently prepared to make the move to the World Championship.
Another new aspect is that Moto2 will have its own category in the CEV. Following its successful appearances last year, when it shared the track with the Extreme category, Moto2 will this year debut as an independent category with the aim of becoming a reference for riders with aspirations of competing in the World Championship, in the same way as the 125GP.
The expectation which has been generated by Moto2 has not only been focused on riders, but has given creative opportunities to Spanish engineers who have been able to manufacture their own prototypes to participate in the CEV. Projects by GPE, MIR and Hune-Universidad Carlos III will share the track with international manufacturers such as Moriwaki, Harris and Suter.
Another category in 2010 will be Stock Extreme, which will offer a more cost-effective class than its predecessor Extreme. Thanks to rules that allow only safety-related modifications this new category will enable new manufacturers to align their 1,000cc machines in an environment which offers maximum equality.
With regards to the Kawasaki Ninja Cup - which in 2010 enters its fourth edition - the organisers have decided to introduce some improvements and new aspects. Amongst these in 2010 will be scaled cash prizes for the top 15 placed riders in each race.
These changes for 2010 will offer better standards of both quality and safety. This year the Motorland Aragón circuit has been added to the calendar, and along with Catalunya, Valencia, Jerez and Albacete comprises the best set of circuits for hosting the National Championship.
The registration deadline for this season is March 18th. You can consult the requirements for registration here.
