Valiant effort from De Puniet delivers tenth

Randy de Puniet’s efforts over the Cardion ab Grand Prix Czech Republic weekend were rewarded with an admirable tenth position in the race, as the Frenchman showed no fear in battling hard to maintain his solid stream of results in 2010.

Making his competitive return to action just four weeks after a double fracture in his left leg the LCR Honda rider qualified in 11th position, and fought to the end of the race for a potential finish of eighth before taking tenth.

“This is simply great! I could not have expected such a positive weekend,” said a pleased De Puniet. “Just three weeks after my injury I was back on my bike and was able to fight for the top ten. I want to thank the doctors, my family and my friends and of course the team because they helped me to get this incredible result.”

The 28 year-old continued: “I really dug deep in my reserves to finish this race and I am very happy about my performance. Now I will have almost two weeks to complete my recovery and hopefully we can obtain another positive result in Indianapolis.”

Following the result De Puniet sits in eighth position in the Championship standings having missed the previous round at Laguna Seca, and is currently the highest placed satellite Honda rider.
