Sergio Gadea to ride with Pons Racing in Moto2
The Spaniard is officially announced as the second rider in the Pons Racing set-up for the inaugural Moto2 season.
Joining fellow Spaniard Axel Pons, 25 year-old Valencian rider Sergio Gadea will line up for the Pons Racing team in the new Moto2 category in 2010.
Gadea completed two tests for the team on the Pons Kalex prototype in late 2009, thus convincing team boss Sito Pons of his ability and securing a ride for the forthcoming season.
Delighted with his deal in the new 600cc 4-stroke category, Gadea said: “I’m very happy with the confirmation, and am also very grateful to Sito Pons and the team for giving me this opportunity. I’ve been amazed at how well everything works within the team, and at my two experiences with them as well. This makes me very optimistic for the season.”
Gadea added: “From day one I felt very comfortable on the Pons Kalex bike, which has great potential.”
Team Manager Pons stated: “From the moment Sergio climbed aboard the Pons Kalex he fitted the profile of the type of rider we were looking for. He is talented, and I think together we can make him more consistent. His and Axel’s work on the bike will be important for its development, and Sergio’s experience and the desire of both riders is a great basis for our team. At the moment I am very happy with how things are progressing.”
