125cc plans close to completion for RTG

Racing Team Germany boss Dirk Heidolf has said his 125cc set-up is “very close” to signing Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama for the 2010 season.

With 2009 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup winner Jakub Kornfeil already confirmed for the new campaign in the 125cc World Championship, Racing Team Germany boss Dirk Heidolf is confident his line-up will be completed very shortly.

Kornfeil’s contract was announced towards the end of December, and Heidolf expects to know whether Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama will complete the 125cc Racing Team Germany pairing by the end of the week.

“We’ve been in close contact and are very close to signing him,” Heidolf told motogp.com. “Koyama and his management want to sign the contract, but it’s not fixed just yet. I have given them a deadline until the end of the week.”

Heidolf added: “We have a good base and we want to give the riders the chance to ride in the World Championship, and not do it just for the money.”

Racing Team Germany announced their Moto2 plans earlier this week, with German rider Arne Tode signed on an initial two-year deal to compete in the new category.
