Interwetten in Japan at HRC
In preparation for the new season, the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team’s mechanics are visiting the Honda Racing workshop in Tokyo.
Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team have accepted an invitation from HRC to visit their workshop in Japan, and have joined a selection of other satellite teams working on the new RC212V.
The team has been working on the 2010 prototype for most of this week, and will continue to do so until next Tuesday before travelling to Malaysia for the first official MotoGP test of the year at Sepang which takes place February 3-5.
“The first meeting with HRC and the other satellite teams was very positive,” said Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team’s chief mechanic Tom Jojic. “The bike has given a very good impression and we’ll try and collect as much data as possible over the coming days. The good thing is that all teams are starting at the same level because all Honda bikes are identical. This will change after the start of the season due to the support factory teams receive, but we all start at the same point.”
He added: “We will travel to Malaysia on Wednesday to prepare for the MotoGP test, where we can try out what we have learnt during our time here in Tokyo.”
Whilst the team work on the bike, Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama has remained in Europe to continue his physical preparations and he will join his colleagues in Malaysia next week.
“I’m back in Barcelona and am training, and have been cycling, swimming and working with weights in the gym,” explained the 2009 250cc World Champion. “I need to gain some weight for MotoGP and have been trying to do this through weights training. In a week I’ll travel to Malaysia as I want to be there a bit before the start of the test to adapt to the climate and have a close look at the circuit. I have to admit Sepang is not really my favourite track.”
